News 2016 January 27 - new version Alpha 13 - Step by Step Execution, Music by Rymdreglage

    Hello Cube Followers,

    The Alpha 13 (v00.05.13.00a) is available! This is the "step by step and music update" with features asked for a long time!
    • Step by Step execution
    • Music by Rymdreglage
    • Options Panel, with resolution and fullscreen options
    • Wireframe display
    If you have not subscribe yet to the Alpha, you can still do it here.
    If you have downloaded the windows version of the game, just launch it again and the game will be automatically updated.
    You can also download right now the new version of the game on the front page:

    Note: if you are using the Linux or Mac version and want to keep your save, you will have to download the new copy of the game, then copy paste your old files "GiaC-DataBase.sqlite" and "Options.xml" in the new version's respective folders.

    Step by Step Execution
    This release's main feature is a Step by Step Execution, which allows you to easily see which Rune is executed at which time.

    Pause button
    In addition to the Step by Step Execution, the game can be paused by clicking again on the play button:

    Also, you can go from Pause to Step by Step Execution or normal Execution in any way, as you wish.


    Music
    There is now music in the game! At least! :D
    It's a very long and complex 8 minutes track, which took 5 months of work.

    You can also listen to a more orchestral version here (changes are beginning around 4:15).

    The composers are named Rymdreglage, it is a duo of two Swedish creators, specialized in 80s sounds.

    They are also Stop Motion specialists, making hundreds of little things move, the same way God is a Cube will have hundreds of little cubes moving.
    I find that their music has a very interesting way to use limited instruments, and it uses a lot of tracks to work well with stop motion. That's what I wanted to work with them.

    Rymdreglage is mostly know for its stop motion video 8-bit trip (14 millions views), so maybe you heard of them before:



    You should definitively write a comment somewhere if you like their work on God is Cube, (here, on Youtube, Facebook, etc), they will see it. :)

    Last thing, you can mute or unmute music in the Options Panel or directly in the game interface:

    Options Panel
    The game features now an Options Panel, with the usual parameters (resolution, fullscreen, etc):

    The whole game GUI is auto resized when the resolution is changed, so it's possible to change the resolution ingame (and not just at the title screen).
    Also, the game is now launched in fullscreen automatically (except if specified otherwise in the options of course), by auto detecting the best resolution possible.

    The pre launch Unity Window is now discarded, because its only purpose was to specify parameters (which can now be edited in the Options Panel):

    Linux users will be pleased to be able to change resolution and fullscreen as they wish (because the pre launch Window wasn't working on Linux).


    Wireframe Display
    Another feature several people asked was a way to better see cells. You have access now to a simple overlaying wireframe display to clearly see the cells:

    You can display and hide wireframe in the Options Panel or directly in the game interface:

    Deprecated Modes
    The Factory Mode and the Creative Mode are now officially deprecated, which means there will be no longer be upgraded (it was already the case for last 7 months, but now it's official), but they are still accessible:

    Several functions of these modes will be put in the future Level Editor, for people who wants to create levels, and easily test lots of setups.



    Minor changes
    Gameplay
    • The picture following the mouse is now under the mouse, and automatically replaced by the previsualization ghost on the DNA:

    Galaxy
    • Chapter numbers have been added to better see in which order they should be completed:

    • DNA Mode, Galaxy, Constellation Creation, change shape to visually separate from first Constellation "Directions"
    • when people finish the last level of a Constellation, the camera focuses back on the Constellation (with a celebration animation added later)
    • DNA Mode, Galaxy, click on the Constellation Central (with the game completion percentage) does nothing instead of zooming
    Other
    • Quality Settings, change names from Fast / Good / Fantastic to Fast / Normal / Fantastic
    • DNA Mode, Levels are placed a little bit more to the right
    • DNA Mode, Levels placement takes resolution in account to avoid the top of the level to be cut
    • executables names (archives and folders) are changed from "GiaC-AODNA" to "God_is_a_Cube-Age_of_DNA"
    Levels Modifications
    • DNA Mode, Constellation Directions, move Level Cliff from position 10 to position 7, before Level Moving Down
    • Level 07 - Moving Down has its 2 first runes already set to better understand what should be done


    Glitch Corrections
    • DNA Mode, text, Glitch, Correction : detect wall relative up has correct name and description instead of having detect wall relative down name and description
    • DNA Mode, Winning Screen, Glitch, Correction : the title of the level is displayed on the whole line, instead of sometimes being cut


    Bug corrections
    • DNA Mode, tutorial, panel, BUG, Correction : click on an animated gif does nothing instead to skip the panel and create sometimes bugs
    • Server, BUG, Correction : same results are now recorded only one time per user instead of each time the user completes the level with a solution
    • Factory Mode, Level Selection, BUG, Correction : any level can be selected instead of only the first level of each page
    • Creative Mode and Factory Mode, first window, BUG, Correction : exit mode by using back button quits completely the mode instead of staying partly in the mode
